The BEST Drinks For Saint Patrick's Day 2022

Cheers with these cocktails, wines, and beers for an extra festive St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday, March 17th, but cities around the country are hosting green-themed celebrations from the 12th-19th for plenty of shamrock fun. While beer is the hands-down favorite for this holiday, don’t be shy when ordering wine or a shamrock shot. With this list, there’s more than one way to join in on the St. Patrick’s Day fun.

And don’t forget to go all-out with the St. Patrick’s Day treats. Whether you’re making a full feast or sticking to Lucky Charms bars as your contribution to the day, you can find a whole lot of delicious recipes

But first, beverages! Order one of these drinks when you’re out and about celebrating, or serve some of these at home for your very own Irish gathering.

BEERS

Guinness is well known for being the perfect St. Patrick’s Day beer. But if a stout sounds heavy for all-day celebrating, try a couple of other good beers that hail from Ireland. Smithwick’s Red Ale is a great amber option and Harp Lager is about as crispy as beer gets. Both are perfect for cheers-ing again and again on this holiday.

Also, take a minute to see what events are happening at your local brewery. Green beer or delicious experimental releases might make you feel like you just found a pot of gold. Plus, there’s something about celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at a tap room that just feels right.

WINE

White wine was the most popular wine in Ireland in 2021 and a crisp Sauvignon Blanc is a great option no matter what time of day you’re raising a glass. Plus, this crisp white wine pairs well with traditional St. Patrick’s Day dishes like cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie, and Corned Beef. Even better, order cans of white wine so all wine lovers will have fun at your leprechaun shindig.

Another option that isn’t quite wine, but is a close (and delicious) cousin, is honey mead. This makes a great shot or after-dinner drink that is perfectly sweet and totally Irish. Thanks to online retailers, you can now order a mead straight from Ireland and get it delivered to your door.

COCKTAILS

If you’re hosting and you want your friends to break into a leprechaun jig, make sure to have some Jameson on hand. This Irish whiskey is known for its smooth flavor, and makes a great base liquor for a number of delicious St. Patrick’s Day drinks. A Jameson and Ginger is just one (Jameson and ginger ale) of the easy cocktail options, but you can even mix up a batch of Jameson Cold Fashioneds for a spin on the classic.

And because it’s a long day, this is a great time to try Irish Coffee. It will keep everyone awake until the St. Patrick’s holiday is said and done, or might even save you at brunch the next morning …

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us at Graham + Fisk!
